True Story

A key part of Praxis BJJ was started by a gentleman who grew up on the tough streets of New York City, back when it was a much more dangerous place than it is today.

As a child growing up there he faced many obstacles and adversity. Something that enabled him to survive in one of the more violent neighborhoods was the donation of Martial Arts classes through his youth.

Those classes and the structure the Dojo provided gave him an avenue to develop himself, learn to defend himself, and help bring that out in others.

Today we are keeping alive and paying forward that which was provided to him.

At Praxis we believe that we all live by a little bit of grace. Something has gotten you here through no merit or skill of your own.

We also believe that you can develop and better both your capacities and station in life. At the least we can learn to be grateful and try hard, then show up again tomorrow ready to do the same. Table stakes that serve us well in life.

Kalis’ Kids is our program for disadvantaged youth. We provide classes free of charge to those in need.
